How to Measure a Suitcase

Measure exterior dimensions the way gate agents and sizers do — including wheels and handles.

Measure the exterior

Use a tape on the outside of the packed bag. Include wheels, feet, and side handles. Retractable trolley handles are usually measured collapsed.

Note all three sides in centimetres or inches. FitsTheBin accepts either unit and sorts sides for comparison automatically.

If your bag expands, measure both closed and expanded. We check both states against each airline.
