How FitsTheBin Calculates Bag Compatibility
Orientation-independent dimension matching, linear totals, weight, and tight fits.
Sort both triples
Bag 60×40×20 becomes 60 / 40 / 20. Airline 55×40×23 becomes 55 / 40 / 23. We compare longest to longest, middle to middle, shortest to shortest.
Tight fit
If any side exceeds the limit by at most about one inch (2.54 cm), we call it a tight fit: it may pass a soft sizer but a strict gate check can still fail a hard shell.
Weight
When an airline publishes a packed-weight limit, we subtract the empty bag weight so you see remaining packing allowance.
