Airline Carry-On Size Guide

How airline cabin bag limits work, why they differ, and how to check your suitcase before you fly.

There is no single global carry-on size

Airlines publish their own cabin limits. Many European carriers use sizes near 55×40×20 cm or 55×40×23 cm. US majors often quote 22×14×9 in. Budget airlines may use a smaller free underseat bag and charge for a wheeled cabin bag.

How FitsTheBin checks a bag

We sort each bag's sides longest to shortest and compare them with the airline limit sorted the same way, so orientation does not matter. Linear (L+W+H) rules use the sum of the three sides. Expandable bags are checked closed and expanded.
